birth at Yercaud, with the blessings of the senior urologists and enthusiasm of juniors of the Southern States, the ASU has
grown steadily in strength as well as in academic activities.
The
birth of the south zone Chapter of the USI took place in Chennai
(1988-89) during one of the CUE programs organised by the
senior faculty of the southern states. On the night of the
banquet, at Adayar Park hotel, it was decided by the senior
statesman that we should call ourselves the Association of
Southern Urologists. We did not envisage this to be part of
USI at that stage.
